If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm. ~ Frank Lane
The thunderstorm came rolling in, and swept across our town. The winds were blowing through the trees; the rain was falling down.
I sat relaxing on the couch till it was time for bed. The rain and wind lulled me to sleep as I lay down my head.
Woke up early to go to the gym, swiftly horrified During the entire storm my sunroof was opened wide!
I love the structure of your poem and how the reader is stunned by the last line just as surely you were when you saw the results of an open sunroof.

Oh no! I have that same panic about car windows being down every time it rains. What a cozy scene you described with a serious plot twist at the end. Hope everything dries out okay!

Oh my gosh that’s a bummer. Sorry to hear but in reading your comments glad it wasn’t too bad! Made for a great poem! 🙂

Oh no! The ending came as such a surprise to me–as it no doubt did to you! My husband has a longstanding habit of leaving car windows open before it rains. His old Jeep smelled super moldy and gross from all the times it had gotten rained in!!

Luckily it was a quick moving thunderstorm and not a soaking rain! It dried out without any real damage.

Nothing that a couple of towels and riding around in 44 degree weather with the sunroof open couldn’t fix…lol.
