Wednesday Whining

This has been a long week, and it’s only Wednesday! Today was the last day of standardized testing and the special schedules.  Hallelujah! There is nothing like special schedules to put a wrench in your week.  The students seem to be in a heightened state.  Their voices are louder, they are unfocused, and they are uninterested in anything that is not on their Chromebooks. To add insult to injury, someone broke the electric pencil sharpener!!

We are all ready for the Easter break, which begins at noon on April 1st.  I just need to make it until Friday at 3:00 because everything is okay on Friday afternoon!

  1. Oh, standardized testing is not something I miss. I subbed for it a few times and remembered why teachers chose that time to be absent! I remember the feeling of it being a long week when it was only Wednesday. Hang in there!

  2. Oh, I wish we had our break next week. We have a week and a half until ours starts and everyone is wild and out of sorts and needing to stay home and away from everyone else. We are all going off the rails and need to go to our timeout corners.

  3. Love the picture! It truly captures how I guess you must be feeling. I remember those days oh too well! I don’t miss the mess that standardized tests make at all. I did, however, have to do the training, just in case I sub in a school where testing is happening. Yuck.

  4. Rita,

The kids understand the inherent wrong in those awful tests, but they don’t know who to blame. I totally understand their and their teachers’ frustrations. Hope the next week speeds by.

  5. This is how educators function: “I just need to make it until…” and “everything is okay on Friday afternoon.” I cheer to you: You can do it!
