This format caught my eye during the Slice of Life Challenge, so I wrote it in my notebook to use later. Unfortunately, I don’t know whose blog I saw it on because I forgot to write that information down. Whoever you are, thank you for sharing it.
Five Things About Me
I married my high school sweetheart. We have been together for over 51 years and will be married for 45 years in August.
I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and am a die-hard Phillies fan.
I love to write essays and poetry. I belong to a poetry writing group at my local library.
I hate to cook. My husband is a retired chef, so I have no need to cook, thank goodness.
I want to learn to speak Italian. I have a 150-day streak on Duolingo.
Would my answers be different if I wrote this on another day? Humm.
It is fun to learn more about each other in these short bursts. My husband and I are just behind you, with 40 years of marriage, and I am amazed by your taking up Italian! It’s such a gorgeous language.

Rita, what a great question you ask at the end. I think they would be because they seem so straight from your heart and experiences of today. Tomorrow, you may have thought of something different. I love that you are active in learning and writing poetry with a group at the library. It makes me want to find/make a group at the library too. Having a retired chef for a husband is a great win!

Rita,
I know tomorrow you still won’t like to cook, so…And it seems to me you are learning Italian. Bravo! I need to find a poetry group that’s local and not just online. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like this format, and I enjoyed reading about you. This would be something to do over time (as you ask would your answers have changed if you had done it another day). Would be cool to do with students.

I do intend to use it with my students.

Wow, congrats on your 45 year marriage. I also enjoy writing poetry. I’m with you on the cooking. My husband does most of it, but he isn’t a chef. We call him that for funsies. It’s amazing how sharing only five things can create connections from afar.
