If you read my post yesterday, you know I wasn’t feeling well and canceled my plans for the evening. After dinner (a delicious vegetable sandwich on a seeded Italian roll from our local pizzeria), I went upstairs to change into my pajamas and relax. I decided I would take a little “rest” before returning downstairs. It was 6:00.
I set my phone alarm for a two-hour “nap” and rested my head on the pillow. When the alarm sounded, I turned it off and went back to sleep. Around 9:30, I awoke, made a trip to the bathroom, and played five minutes of Duolingo not to break my 130-day streak. Then, I closed my eyes for the night. I woke up this morning at 9:00 a.m.
I felt tired all week, and I blamed the time change. Obviously, my body didn’t believe that excuse and decided I needed a day to rest. Not fighting the call to sleep was the best thing I did all week.
I am feeling better after easing into Saturday and enjoying a bowl of wonton soup and an egg roll for lunch. Here’s to hoping I am 100% by Monday morning.
there’s not much that going to bed at 8pm can’t cure for me. Hope you are getting all kinds of rest, not just the physical kind. Mental and emotional rest are so important, too! Thanks for sharing and feel well soon.

I am so feeling this too. This has been a week. I have so much to do, but I’m thinking a night of rest will help me be more productive tomorrow and ready for the upcoming week.

I am working to pay more attention to what my body is telling me. It sounds like yours didn’t give you a choice. Glad you had the time to rest & hope you feel better soon!

Oh, Rita, I’m sorry you weren’t well. I missed you last night. It was wonderful, but I’m sure there will be others. If you get a chance to read my slice today, you’ll learn about a funny coincidence that happened to me last night. Since retirement, I’ve learned an amazing trick…”When you feel worn out, REST!” Seriously, I used to drag myself to work and wind up getting sick and staying sick for weeks. Now, when I feel out of sync, I cancel plans and crawl into bed. Sometimes, I only need a few extra hours in the morning and I’m fine. Who knew? Glad you did that last night.

It sounds like you really needed that extra sleep! Isn’t it amazing what our bodies know that we don’t? Hope you are on the mend!

Ouch! While I, too, would be wondering where the day went, it sounds like you needed the rest. I hope this next week brings more energy.
